Pianist/composer Nancy Walker has been recognized with honours Canada-wide, including the National Jazz Awards Keyboardist Of The Year Award, the Montréal International Jazz Festival’s prestigious Grand Prix de Jazz, a JUNO nomination for Instrumental Album Of The Year, and an induction into the Mississauga Music Walk Of Fame.
She has recorded and performed with the cream of the musical crop across a range of genres, including saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, vocalist Emilie-Claire Barlow, children's artist Raffi, balladeer Roger Whittaker and folk singer-songwriter Sylvia Tyson, among many others.
Nancy has several discs to her credit as leader. Her most recent, 'Til Now Is Secret, showcases ten of her compositions inspired by landscapes, visual art, architecture and more.
A graduate of Humber's music program, Nancy holds an MA from York University in Music Composition.
As a composer, her work has extended to radio and television jingles, commissions for dance theatre, youth jazz ensemble, SATB chorus, and more.
