John Bourgeois

Program Director, Acting for Film & Television

John is an award-winning actor, director and teacher. As an educator, he has taught students at George Brown Theatre School, York University, and the University of Toronto. A full-time Humber faculty member and the program’s director since 2005, John studied English and Theatre at Concordia University (BA) and trained for the stage in London at The Webber-Douglas Academy (postgrad certificate). He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from University of British Columbia.

He has either acted in or directed plays for such theatres as the Stratford Festival, the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia and off-Broadway, as well as regional stages across Canada. Most recently, he appeared in The Humans at Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and was awarded the “Evie” for Outstanding Performance in a leading role.

His imdb.com screen page lists over a 120 film and TV appearances. Recent credits include Schitt’s Creek, Ransom, and the upcoming Atom Egoyan film Guest of Honour. He recently appeared in season two of the CBC Comedy web series Save Me. His one man play, Tansey’s Brag, was recorded by CBC Radio and filmed for Bravo TV.
