A Day in the Life Of... Yolanda Bonnell

My name is Yolanda, I’m in my third and final year at Humber in the Theatre Performance program.

One of the things I like about this program is that we are being instructed by faculty that still work in their field. It’s not strictly academic teachers. They still have their fingers on the pulse of the theatre scene in Toronto.

I've learned so much from being here and I think the most important thing is not to be afraid to take risks. It’s definitely something I’m still battling, but I think it’s been a really valuable tool for me to learn that being open and vulnerable takes a lot less effort that hiding behind the mask of an actor that isn't really you.

I think what makes Humber Theatre unique is it’s focus on devised physical theatre. We’re constantly creating something and putting it out there as a workshop. We’re always developing. The program has a strong focus on how to create your own work as well as finding out how to make personal choices with text.
