  • A bachelor’s degree, advanced diploma or diploma

All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a WES or ICAS evaluation.

Mature Applicants

Diplomas and Certificates

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet program eligibility.

Degrees

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

College Transfer Applicants

An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

Degrees

An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility. Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

University Transfer Applicants

An applicant is considered a university transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a university-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or university courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

Selection Includes Additional Requirements:

Admission selection is based on the academic criteria indicated and the result of the evaluation of additional requirements. Additional requirements may include a portfolio, audition, letter of intent, references, etc., and vary by program. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an offer of admission.

Apply to Humber

Applications to Humber are made through ontariocolleges.ca. Be sure to submit your application by the equal consideration deadline of February 1. You may apply after February 1, however, post-February 1 applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the availability of the space in the program. In order to continue with your application for Creative Book Publishing, you must complete this step in the application process. Applicant selection is based on academic criteria and results of these additional requirements. This contains all information to prepare and submit additional requirements for consideration. If you have any questions, please contact Admissions.

Additional Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a resume, essay and attend an information session.

i. Resume

Applicants must submit a detailed resume.

ii. Essay

Applicants must submit a one-page essay about a Canadian authored book published within the last year. Include a very brief discussion of the content but place an emphasis on other elements of the book: format, price, cover and interior design, cover copy and any marketing details that may be on the book. Comment on the implications of the choices made in producing and marketing this book and compare it to others in the bookstore.

iii. Information Session

Applicants are required to attend an information session. This information session is a requirement as Creative Book Publishing is a program that relies highly on group work, collaboration and interaction within the classroom environment. Please see “Registration Instructions” below to book your interview.

Submission Instructions for Resume and Essay

Applicants must submit the resume and essay through SlideRoom. SlideRoom is a secure site where additional requirements are collected, scored and stored. Log-in to https://humber.slideroom.com and create your free account. There will be additional instructions once your account has been created.

Registration Instructions for Interview

Applicants must register to attend this admissions event. Log-in to MyHumber to register:

  1. Log-in to MyHumber
  2. Select the Applicant tab
  3. Select the Applied Programs tab
  4. Select your Year and Applicant Number from the drop-down menu, then click Submit
  5. Click on “Do I Have Any Missing Requirements”
  6. Click on “Go to Events” (located under the “Link” section, near the bottom right of the page)
  7. Choose from a list of available assessment dates and follow the prompts

All additional requirements will be evaluated and a score will be calculated by the academic school.

Admission decisions will be available via MyHumber, or by email and mail. Admission decisions will not be released by phone.
