This fall, the government of Ontario announced a $50 million annual increase in culture sector funding for the Ontario Arts Council. This is important recognition of the growth and positive impact that arts and culture have in Ontario, contributing $25 billion and almost 280,000 jobs to the Ontario economy.
Humber College is a leading contributor to this growing sector, and we are excited to see the government’s commitment to increasing the number of jobs, building further capacity in the sector and further establishing Ontario as a leader in arts and culture.
We are excited by the many success stories of alumni, faculty, staff and students as they make their mark in the world and demonstrate year after year that Humber is a national leader in the arts. We are also continuing to celebrate 2017 as the 50th birthday of Humber College, and I hope you’ll join us at our Humber@50 concert on November 8 at Koerner Hall – so save the date!
Finally, to students, staff and faculty, a warm welcome back to Humber for the fall 2017 semester. I hope you have an exciting and successful year full of creative projects, rich learning experiences and new friendships. Enjoy it!
