Prior to joining the faculty at Humber in 2010, Peter Cook worked at the CBC for 19 years.
From 1991-2007 he was Senior Music Editor and Mastering Engineer for CBC Records. Peter has remastered recordings of Glenn Gould, Maureen Forrester among many others and edited and mastered recordings of every major classical orchestra, ensemble and soloist in Canada including the Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras, Canadian Opera Company, Charles Dutoit, Mario Bernardi, Pinchas Zukerman, James Ehnes, Ben Heppner, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Michael Schade, and Russel Braun as well as jazz and world music artists such as Don Thompson, Guido Basso, Mike Murley, Laila Biali, Maza Meze, and African Guitar Summit.
From 2007-2010 Peter was responsible for CBC Radio 2's "Concerts On Demand" website and helped to guide the network's online presence with blogs, social networking, podcasts and live audio streaming. He has worked as music producer, recording engineer and editor on a number of award-winning Rhombus Media films. He has won three Gemini Awards for best sound and has credits on 21 Juno Award-winning CDs.
Peter also guest lectures at McGill University's Master of Music in Sound Recording program and at the Banff Centre's Audio programs. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Audio Engineering Society since 2006 including a four year stint as Vice President.
Peter is a graduate of the Masters of Music in Sound Recording Program at McGill.
