Heather is Program Coordinator for Theatre Production and teaches Props 2, Production Applications, Set Design and Puppetry.
Heather is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a BFA in Theatre Design and the University of Victoria with a MEd in Art Education.
She has worked as a freelance designer and prop builder and set and costume designer for the past twenty years for theatres across Canada; Bard on the Beach in Vancouver; Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects and Quest Theatre in Calgary, and the Banff Centre.
Heather has taught Theatre Production at Douglas College in Vancouver, Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Newfoundland, and Sheridan College in Oakville. Heather has also designed sets and costumes for some of the productions at Humber College.
Her recent interest in Puppetry Arts has led her to study and work with artists from the Old Trout Puppet Workshop, Puppetmongers, Clunk Puppet Lab and Ronnie Burkett. For the past four years Heather has also coordinated the successful Puppetry Intensive Workshops and Master classes at Humber College during the summer.
When she is not working at Humber, Heather is a board member for the Ontario Section of UNIMA Canada (International Union of Marionettes), Puppetmongers and Arts4All.
As well as her career in theatre, Heather enjoys working on her own artwork in sculpture and metalwork and has exhibited her work in several galleries and stores around Toronto. She also enjoys time away from Toronto sailing on the east coast of Canada.
