Course Code: COMM 5003
Academic Year: 2017-2018
Through class work, studying existing TV shows and scripts and written assignments, students develop the skills necessary to produce story springboards, a premise, beat sheet and, ultimately, an outline for an original spec script of a show currently on the air or a script of the students' own creation, from which they are able to write a half-hour single camera or multi-camera script. Students work individually and collaboratively, learning how to break stories and expand simple ideas into a cohesive setup, complication and resolution. Additionally, students learn the basics of scriptwriting formats and structures.
