A hands-on introduction to the book editor's skills and responsibilities, this course offers practical instruction in the essentials of manuscript analysis, structural and substantive editing, stylistic and line editing, copyediting, proofreading and project management for general interest trade books. Students will examine the particular demands of non-fiction, fiction and specialized genres and formats, such as children's books, illustrated books, ebooks and others, focusing on common editorial dilemmas and appropriate solutions.
